Modern Greek Scrabble Rules - Official Tournament Rules needed

Now we need to check the official Greek Tournament Rules, because I want to add the Greek game rules to my table Comparison of International Scrabble Rules in Scrabble3D .

I hope that we will find (and understand !!! ) the official rules on internet, hopefully on the official site of the National Greek Scrabble Association:

The Google machine translation of the official Greek tournament rules is very very bad indeed. The Bing machine translation seems to be a little bit better than Google translation. Letter Exchange
-Ο παίκτης μπορεί να αλλάξει τόσα γράμματα ώστε τα τελευταία επτά

10 γράμματα μπορεί να αλλάξει έως 3, αν είναι 13 έως 6, κ.ο.κ.


Letter Exchange
The player can exchange letters with the prerequisite that there are
at least 7 letters left in the sack with the letters . For example if
there are 13 letters left in the sack the player can exchange up to 6
letters, if there are 10 letters left in the sack the player can
exchange up to 3 letters.




Δ-χρόνος
1. Ο χρόνος για τις προσπάθειες κάθε παίκτη ορίζεται σε τριάντα (30)
λεπτά συνολικά. Ο χρόνος συζήτησης των ενστάσεων και καταγραφής του
σκορ είναι νεκρός. Εάν παίκτης υπερβεί τα 30 λεπτά, του επιβάλλεται
ποινή 10 πόντων για κάθε 1 λεπτό επιπλέον χρόνου με την εξής έννοια:
αν ο επιπλέον χρόνος είναι μέχρι 60 sec, η ποινή είναι 10 πόντοι, αν
είναι από 61-120 sec, ποινή 20 πόντοι, κ.ο.κ. Η ποινή αφαιρείται από
το συνολικό σκορ του παίκτη, δίχως να προστίθεται στον αντίπαλο.


Time, additional minutes and time penalty
Each player has 30 minutes to make his move. If the player surpasses
the 30 minutes allowed for his move, he gets a penalty of 10 points
for each extra minute he uses. That means if the extra time is up to
60 secs the player gets a penalty of 10 points, if the extra time is
61-120 secs they get a penalty of 20 points etc. The deducted points
are NOT added to the opponent player's score.




Ε-ενστάσεις
Σε περίπτωση συνεχόμενων άκυρων (μη αποδεκτών) ενστάσεων από κάποιον
παίκτη προβλέπεται ποινή υπό την εξής έννοια: Κάθε παίκτης έχει το
δικαίωμα να κάνει μέχρι 3 άκυρες (μη αποδεκτές) ενστάσεις ανά αγώνα
χωρίς ποινή. Από την τέταρτη άκυρη ένσταση και μετά, του επιβάλλεται
ποινή 10 πόντων, οι οποίοι του αφαιρούνται άμεσα.


Challenge (objection of a move) and challenge penalty
The player can have up to 3 objections of the opposite move rejected
in a game without having a penalty. From the 4th rejected objection,
the player gets a 10 points penalty for each rejected objection.




5.ΤΕΛΟΣ του ΑΓΩΝΑ
Γ-αυτοδίκαιη λήξη

Εάν για οιονδήποτε λόγο- ένσταση, αλλαγή γραμμάτων, «πάσο» κλπ- οι
παίκτες βαθμολογηθούν σε τρεις διαδοχικούς γύρους με μηδέν, δηλαδή
έξι συνολικά φορές στη σειρά καταγραφεί μηδέν στο φύλλο βαθμολογίας,
το παιχνίδι λήγει αυτοδικαίως. Οι παίκτες αφαιρούν από το σκορ τους
την αξία των γραμμάτων του αναλογίου τους και τυχόν ποινές υπέρβασης
χρόνου.


End of a game
If for any reason (pass, letter exchange or penalty) the players have a
score of 0 for 6 consecutive turns (3 turns for each player) the game
ends. The points of the remaining letters in each player's rack are
deducted from the score of the player.




The following paragraph, however, is irrelevant for our Scrabble3D purposes:


Β-καθυστέρηση, αναβολές αγώνων
Αγώνας αναβάλλεται μόνο αν οι εμπλεκόμενοι παίκτες και ο έφορος
συμφωνήσουν και αυτό δεν επηρεάζει την ομαλή εξέλιξη του τουρνουά.
Σε περίπτωση αναβολής ορίζεται άμεσα η ώρα και η ημερομηνία του
αναβληθέντος αγώνος. Την ευθύνη της αναβολής έχει ο παίκτης ο οποίος
τη ζητά. Έτσι θα πρέπει να κάνει εγκαίρως, έως το αργότερο 2 ώρες
πριν τον αγώνα, όλες τις απαραίτητες συνεννοήσεις με τον αντίπαλό
του και τον έφορο. Άλλως, μηδενίζεται και ο αγώνας κατοχυρώνεται
στον αντίπαλο με σκορ 150-0. Το ίδιο γίνεται κι όταν ο αγώνας λόγω
της φύσεως του τουρνουά δεν δύναται να αναβληθεί.


For the GameLostByTime value, i only saw a rule regarding the start of
a game. If a player is absent in the time that is set for the game,
the opponent can start a time counter 20 minutes after the set time.
If the absent player shows up he stops the counter and the game
begins. If the absent player doesn't show up 20 minutes after the
counter is set, he loses the game with a score of 150-0.

As far as I can see, the official Greek tournament rules concerning the letter exchange, the time penalty and the challenge penalty cannot be set in Scrabble3D just now. Only the number of passes before the end of the game, letter exchange being treated as pass, can be set.


Scotty, would it be possible to implement such complex rules in Scrabble3D?

What do you think is reasonable to choose as settings for Greek rules in Scrabble3D instead?

What shall we do?

I understand your reasoning, Scotty. But which rule settings should we choose for our Greek users instead?
Whatever we'll choose as default settings will be arbitrary...

That means that in practice we will not have any true Greek default rule settings - not even if one day we will have the complete set of greek.dic + greek.lang...
